The term chorea is derived from the Ancient Greek: χορεία ("dance"; see choreia ), as the quick movements of the feet or hands are comparable to dancing. Childhood onset is a defining feature of Tourette's syndrome, a chronic disorder of severe motor and vocal tics that begins before the age of 18 1 or 21, 2 depending on the criteria.
