She names them: her companions Anaktoria, Atthis, Gongyla, her friends Mika, Telesippa, Anagora, and two people she had falling outs with Gorgo and Andromeda. Translation is a tricky art. I’d like to look at the rest of Sappho 16 soon. Sappho really gets into the difference between the world of epic and the world she writes.
